The Story Behind HonorBib™
The story began in 1996 when HonorBib’s founder, Alexandre Garrett, completed her first sprint triathlon in Newport Beach, CA. After that one race, she became hooked on the sport and proceeded to compete in multiple sprint and Olympic distance triathlons for the next 12 years. Then in 2008, at the age of 38, she decided to really challenge herself and signed up for her first marathon, the San Diego Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon, on May 31, 2009.
It was on that day, at mile 14, that her life changed forever.
The idea of HonorBib ignited in her as she ran, watching thousands of runners honoring loved ones with signs on their backs created with bubble pens, cardboard signs and pictures tucked inside plastic baggies. To Alexandre, there definitely was a different way to honor someone you loved during a race. Her mission became crystal clear: to develop a professional-quality custom bib that respects loved ones and the race participants. Though, she didn’t want to just start a business to produce yet one more product in the world.
She wanted to make a difference.
So she made the commitment that day to donate at least $1 from each HonorBib sold to charity. As an athlete and a marketing professional with more than 16 years experience, owning her own Public Relations business for 8 of those years, she had no doubt she could take this product to market successfully. Plus, she loves a good challenge. Located in Boulder, Colorado, HonorBib™ LLC was formed in June 2009 and started shipping product in May 2010.
HonorBib™ LLC is a provider of professional-quality, customized racing bibs made out of Tyvek® or seed paper for you, your friends and family to celebrate and honor those who have touched your lives.
